Environmental Scientist from Jacksonville Starts BABYSITTING BUSINESS FRANCHISE
Heather Carolan loves being able to sit at the office desk in the Mandarin home she shares with her husband, two daughters, two rescued cats and two rescued dogs and help families all over the city. A Jacksonville resident, Carolan was a marine biology major at West Florida and a former life science teacher.
After falling for and marrying Sean, an active-duty Navy serviceman, Carolan followed her husband to both coasts and places in between. She left teaching and worked as an environmental scientist at most locations. This worked well until the couple started a family.
"I traveled quite a bit and often had to do overnight trips," said Carolan, whose family moved back to Jacksonville three years ago. "I loved my job, but I was always worried about finding safe, reliable child care for my daughters Hannah and Kaylee, especially when Sean was deployed."
One morning, a story on Headline News caught Carolan's attention. "It was a piece about a small start-up company named SeekingSitters where the owner had launched a safe baby-sitting service," Carolan said. "The owner did background investigations on her sitters and the families they worked for. Because of my need as a working mom, I was glued to the TV."
"I was so excited about the story I'd watched that I phoned the company on my way to work," Carolan said. After a 3 month process she brought the SeekingSitters franchise to Jacksonville and the surrounding areas."
"I love working from home, being with my girls, and I love helping other families, It's been great for us." she said.
